"RANDOMIZER's" got it .... in one This rescue/hosting is all about keeping DM's fabulous stuff "ALIVE AND ACCESSIBLE" .... where all, whom wish to, can easily access it in order to be able to enjoy it HJG will "certainly" be adding many more texture for these simulations. In regard to the prospect of further updates to these actual simulations .... I can't guarantee this will eventuate ... .and if we do so at all then that won't be done without the consent of DM. Just see how we go .... as we're still getting other files established IN THE MEAN TIME .... I've just created a new "DAVID MALTBY FLIGHT SIM TEXTURE INVENTORY" listing within the "HJG AIRCRAFT TEXTURE LISTS" board on our forum. This list features all livery subjects for all aircraft types included within this recent release. As this list is expanded by HJG's own texture addition this inventory will be separated into separate aircraft texture inventory lists .... if deemed necessary. This "DAVID MALTBY FLIGHT SIM TEXTURE INVENTORY" may be quickly accessed per the following link .... Can't see what your promoting Alex Your link isn't showing me anything. "IF" it's relating that BOAC texture that was recently done by someone else and for the DMFS COMET IV model though, then, the answer's "NO" .... simply because we wouldn't ever consider replacing, or offering an alternative, to any of DM's original textures (since such simply doesn't sit right with me) .... unless there was good reason to do so. Remember .... the sole purpose of this rescue/salvage was to try'n ensure the DMFS data remains available/online and easily accessible to all whom might desire to continue using it (or to all whom have yet to discover it) and then add what we can in order to try'n further popularize it too, BUT, not to actually replace any of it .... at least not without a darned good reason to do so Other than that our hosting anything else produced by anyone else simply isn't up to us to decide Prefer you start a separate thread if you wish to discuss this further .... and to which I'll then transfer yours, and these/my own, comments Mark C AKL/NZ

They "ARE" .... and that's why we've tried to preserve them" (ensure they remain easily accessible) in the original format. DM's panels were very advanced (in respect of the authenticity of some of their systems representation) by the time they were last re-released by him around 2008-ish .... and still "ARE" now in comparison to a lot of panels released since. The AP's featured within COMET and VC10 panels are fairly easy to use .... as is that for the standard BAC ONE-ELEVEN too .... but .... those featured within both the BAC ONE-ELEVEN-510ED, and the TRIDENT too, are "QUITE A BIT MORE COMPLEX" and do need to be studied or one could have difficult using them. To aid one's learning process DM compiled interactive versions of his manuals .... which are accessible through the KNEE BOARD feature options within each panel, so, one can easily just re"read the book" as one flies. It took me around 3 circuits to properly figure out the TRIDENT AP .... but .... I've more-or-less mastered it now and intend moving on to that for BAC ONE ELEVEN 510ED and which is also "complex/different again" These simulations certainly keep one busy/focused .... all in the interests of learning .... and above all learning to fly these great simulations both properly and with precision too Just want to remind everyone too that the forum based manuals we provide for each of the DMFS simulations should be regarded as "constant WIP's" .... since these will be updated, expanded, and further improved as we progress.Mark C AKL/NZ

Hi friends:
At least in the Comet there is an interactive checklist included also, which helps a lot.
Kind regards

This feature is, or should be, available in "all" of the DMFS panels Walter .... not just the COMET only To avoid possible confusion by some let me explain .... Each DMFS panel features both a basic Checklist (selectable per the Check Mark icon among the sub panel selection view icons) .... as well as a separate interactive manual for each panel too (selectable per the Knee Board icon among the sub panel selection view icons .... then using the KB's own selection tabs). I might try'n demonstrate later per a couple if images so no doubt, at all, then exists in regard to what I'm trying to relate here. From memory the source of this interactive manual is per documentation included within the DMFS SHARED FILES folder .... and which should have installed as part of the auto-installation process for each Panel. If you're not able to access this data .... using the above mentioned sub panel selection and other associated icons on the KB feature .... then that suggests either your FLTSIM.XX data (for each Texture) has no KB references or the said documentation has never been installed inside the DMFS SHARED FILES folder. Prefer discussing this on the new DMFS forum page (if you wish) since it's more of a support related matter Mark C AKL/NZ

As someone who hates panel and systems depth, i have always found the DM panels that perfect balance of getting up and going while still following procedures. Too easy a panel, I get bored, too complex it puts me off
not just that, his FDE compliments his panel so it all works very nicely indeed!
I do wish he implemented dynamic wingflex to the vc10 and comet. And yes I’m aware the vc10 does have wingflex either gear related or speed activated, but doesn’t bounce in the air like the trident or 111

They're complex in their simplicity .... YET .... simple in their complexity too .... in fact they each refelect "the right balance" of both to please most/the average FS enthusiast.
They're well thought out and engineered .... and as a result each runs well and are a delight to fly .... and even more significantly too they still all each compare well with much more recent releases.
If anyone (FS9 and FSX users of course) don't like these DM panels (simulations generally) .... then .... they'd be "very difficult to try'n please indeed".

It's been a little over a month since I dropped in and I must say this is some fantastic news. When I read that DM's site was down, I was very disheartened at the thought of his work not being available.. I have most all of his work and it is priceless. I just wish to congratulate HJG and in particular Mark and who else fostered the idea that David's work should be preserved. The truth being known, for the past six months, my default FSX-SE flight is, in fact, the BAC ONE-ELEVEN.
These are exciting times and can't wait to refresh some of DM's planes on my rig. Thank you all who were instrumental in bringing this project to fruition.

"THANKS" for that Terry My own part in all this was really just being the instigator of the "THE IDEA" that's resulted in the DMFS flight line taking up residence at HJG. Others assisted majorly too, like our own Peter, and Ben, whilst yet others helped provide that all important encouragement/motivation necessary in order to be able to actually to pull everything together here .... otherwise it simply couldn't, and probably wouldn't, have happened/been possible at all. What I'm trying to say here is .... "this all been a colaborative excercize/rescue" Just bear in mind I do have quite a bit more official DMFS tech documentation to add to our forum based manuals which I've posted .... for each of the DMFS flight line .... and which are accessible/located on the new "DMFS SUPPORT" page of the HJG forum. I'm running a bit behind my own schedule with this tasking at the moment .... due to the imposition of other projects (and real world priorities too) .... BUT .... that data "WILL" be added ASAP. We'll also be adding quite a number of our own textures in order to try'n further popularize the DMFS flight line .... in fact some of these have already been previewed by our team .... SO .... there should be no shortage of new material with which you, and everyone else whom wishes to part take of DM's great simulations, can continue to enjoy these great simulations in the future Mark C AKL/NZ

As earlier promised .... Just added the first extension to the first of our forum based manuals for the DMFS flight line .... this particular installment being for the BAC ONE-ELEVEN's (albeit a little later than anticipated) .... tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/9973/bac-eleven-manualThis information is based "entirely upon" David MALTBY's and Dave BOOKER's original data and covers "almost" everything one needs to know, and do, in order to derive the greatest possible satisfaction and enjoyment using these simulations. PLEASE NOTE: These manuals (like all HJG forum based manuals and service notes) should be regarded as a constant WIP .... and "will" be further updated in accordance with our perceived need to do so. Each of the other DMFS related manuals (for the COMET's, TRIDENT's, VC10's, and C1K's) will also be similarly expanded .... as time permits my being able to so. Mark C AKL/NZ

Just added the extension to the forum based manual for the DMFS COMET flight line .... tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/9974/dh106-comet-manualNot entirely necessary (maybe) since most of the data posted is actually viewable via the interactive manual accessible through the panel Knee Board feature of these simulations, BUT, I feel in the additional interests of product support it's essential we offer "a forum based resource" for these simulations too .... hence the reason why I've done this .... and will also so the similar for the TRIDENT's, VC10's, and C1K's as well .... as time permits my doing so. Again .... "THIS" .... and all other HJG supplied manuals and service notes too .... should be regarded as a constant WIP. Mark C AKL/NZ

I'm belatedly catching up with this piece of news, and as all the other folks have made clear before me, what a fantastic piece of news this is indeed! I see that most, if not all HJG (and not only) developers, like to stay humble in regards to the value of their contribution to the FS world, even as they appreciate our gratitude for their work; but frankly, when it comes to mature, accurate simulations of classic jetliners, no matter how much you'd twist and turn various "contenders", as you're trying to gauge their fidelity and overall quality, for a hypothetical "top" of the best offerings out there (regardless of what exactly one understands by "best"), there's simply no way "the top of the top" isn't going to be populated by HJG and David Maltby products, 2 of the very best "factories" of classic virtual jetliners that ever have been for FS9, and not only, especially in - but not limited to - the freeware league. The number of systems being replicated is impressive, the level of fidelity that these digital engineers manage to achieve with each of those systems, is likewise impressive, especially considering the limited resources they have available (compared to, say, a payware developer who may even partner with the manufacturers and/or operators of the real aircraft they're trying to replicate in FS), and as if that were not enough, all that great amount of high-quality systems and FDE replication, is present in not just one or two variants of a specific aircraft type, but in countless variants and sub-variants. But no, the good news don't end there. Despite the relatively high level of complexity and fidelity featured in these simulations, they're surprisingly easy to master, thanks to the way they're programmed and engineered, as well as to the amount of straightforward documentation kindly provided by the developers. These traits are characteristic of both HJG and DM simulations, which make them all some of the most enjoyable airliner simulations you can get for FS9 and not only, even more so when it's strictly about old jetliners. They certainly are MY all time favorite birds in FS. Now you can see why bringing both "teams" under the same umbrella is such a great milestone, especially considering the disappearance of the DM website, the potential loss of the DM simulations being a truly catastrophic consequence of that. In my opinion, there's no better place for the DM birds to reside from now on, than at HJG. Having both HJG and DM together, is like the Star Wars and Independence Day universes being joined in a new story. A big THANK YOU to everyone who brought these simulations to fruition, as well as to everyone involved in rescuing the DM goodies, and bringing them into the HJG portfolio. Here's to a bright future together for some of the best virtual old iron ever to grace the skies of FS2004! Dorel

"THANKS" .... for all of that Dorel .... because it "IS" motivating/encouraging to read those sorts of sentiments Within your above words of appreciation, honesty, and intelligence .... all rolled into one .... are "the very justifications/reasons" why HJG's organized the way it "IS" (a concept practiced by my FS colleague and friend the late Michael VERLIN .... one of the original HJG foundation members from 2000 .... and whom I personally learned from) and which I've often argued in favor of maintaining on many past occasions It's only with "a concept/vision" of how things should be represented and presented .... and more importantly .... only with the aid of our team of "technical specialists" (George CARTY, Paul HAAK, Mike MONCE, and Benoit PLAMONDON .... they being the group members who's expertise results in our panels, gauges, FDE's, models, and sounds) that we've been able to achieve what we have/transform that "concept/vision" into well working/functioning "virtual reality" .... in the form of the simulations we currently offer. Then just as importantly too it's our "entire team of painting specialists" (both past and present) whom actually put the icing on the cake .... by virtue of the liveries/textures they each labour to freely produce in support of everything we ultimately release. In short we try our best, to do our best, in attempt to try'n please as many as we possibly can .... and sometimes under very difficult or limiting circumstances. It's "NOT" easy (otherwise every FS man and his dog would be able to do it) .... and sometimes it's not even pleasant or enjoyable either, but, we all plod along quietly regardless We know we can't please everyone though (nobody ever can), but, despite whatever transpires along the way it "DOES" please each of our team to see, and read, how other people apparently get a lot of pleasure out of enjoying what "we all" labour to freely produce. Like is the case with some of DM's great offerings too .... what we/HJG offer is as extensive as it's also comprehensive, but, that's a reflection of the way aviation "IS". No two aircraft marques, among any type, are precisely the same. Most perform differently (that's how sub marques come into existence) and which isn't too difficult to replicate even within the often limited/imperfect virtual environment of FS .... provided one knows what one's doing of course. Representing everything the way we do "does" make what we offer "a little more complex" .... for some .... BUT .... everything's quite well documented/supported and if people are ever in need of additional assistance, then, that's why we have "this forum" .... and it's to this extent we feel no question asked out of any "genuine need of such assistance/clarification" is ever a dumb question .... by our interpretation at least[/b] As I've said a number of times in the past .... "HJG's akin to being a jig-saw puzzle with each of its team members holding a vital part of what ultimately assembles to form the final/greater picture .... for everyone else's (the community's) consumption/appreciation in respect of everything this group freely offers" .... and that's "A FACT" We felt that way too .... and which why we moved to do what's been done. We like to think/hope this action is something that benefits both DM and CBFS .... and not just HJG A detail I do perhaps need to reemphasize though is rather than this being "a teaming up" (although nothing would please us more than to be able to do so if DM ever wishes to return to FS) .... what we've done here is simply intended to ensure the great DMFS resource remains "easily accessible" for all whom wish to be able to enjoy it in the future, BUT, out of respect for DM (and for Dave BOOKER too .... whom contributed so much toward the DMFS simulations) we're insistant these should always be referred to as "The David MALTBY BAC ONE-ELEVEN, DH106 COMET, HS121 TRIDENT, ab VC10/C1K" and not as HJG products Mark C AKL/NZ

Extension to our forum based manual for the DMFS TRIDENT is now posted/available .... tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/thread/9975/hs121-trident-manualQuite a unique AP featured in the DMFS TRIDENT panel .... and which is very good replication (in terms of what can be engineered in FS versus functionality of the actual unit) of the real thing. Once "understood" it's great to use and works very well. It's "NOT" complex .... just "DIFFERENT". The most important thing to remember is whilst AP HDG and AP VOR/NAV modes must first be primed on the AP unit .... a switch located at the top left of the HSI gauge (the Azimuth Master Switch), on the main panel, must be flicked "up" in order to be able to engage VOR/NAV mode, and "right" in order to be able to engage HDG mode .... or one won't be able engage either in order to go anywhere and with any precision. This's all covered within the forum based manual .... and which is also accessible via the the Knee Board function within the panel itself. Comments (if any) in regard to this, and any other technical details relating to these simulations, should be posted on our "NEW" DMFS related forum page .... tonymadgehjg.proboards.com/board/37/david-maltby-flight-support-forum.... "NOT" in response to this News & Announcements related posting This extension to our forum based TRIDENT manual also includes Peter McLELAND's "Auto-Land Tutorial" for this simulation .... and which also works wonderfully well too .... when correctly used Only the VC10 and C1K manual extensions left to go now .... hopefully before the end of next week Mark C AKL/NZ
