I think the most important thing here is all of our painters enjoy painting "whatever appeals most to them" .... first and foremost Everyone else needs to find contentment from whatever's provided for them ANYWAY .... it "is" nice to see some of these rare aircraft, and operators, from the past being represented for FS (as we offer it) .... to promote what's since become civil aviation nostalgia. And that CARNIVAL B734 looks terrific .... adding to our constantly expanding chronological carnival of colour schemes for these great simulations. Mark C AKL/NZ

Well... as Monty Python says... Now time for something completely different! F-GFUG, Aeromaritime 737-4B3, circa 1990 Only lasted about 14 months with Aeromaritime before that airline was closed down after parent UTA was "merged" with Air France. Aeromaritime also had many 737-300s... so watch this thread ... and some 767s along with shared 747s and DC-10s with UTA. They had DC-8s as well; already in the HJG library in pre-UTA colors... and of course Aerospacelines Super Guppies operated for Airbus until they took the operation in house.

A little bit about this UTA subsidiary AEROMARITIME .... since it shouldn't be confused with the much earlier UAT ....
UTA FRENCH AIRLINES was France´s 2nd international airline.
It operated an extensive and almost around the world route network from its Paris/CDG base.
The airline was particularly strong within the African continent (routes to former French colonies), Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the French South Pacific territories (both New Caledonia and Tahiti), and to Los Angeles .... routes essentially not flown, or not flown extensively, by AIR FRANCE .... although commercial arrangements did exist between both UTA and AIR FRANCE in respect of services between Paris and US ports (UTA flew to Los Angeles from its Pacific, Australasian, and Asian destinations to connect with AIR FRANCE at Los Angeles for onward services to Paris) and without either airlines routings overlapping.
UTA (UNION DE TRANSPORTES AERIENS) was formed through the 1963 merger of UAT (UNION AEROMARITIME DE TRANSPORTES) and TAI (TRANSPORTES AERIENS INTERCONTENENAUX).
AEROMARTIME was established as a UTA subsidiary during the early 1980´s in order for the airline to grow to meet competition imposed by Europe's new breed of rapidly expanding and commercially aggressive low cost airlines, and also enable it to compete more effectively with AIR FRANCE following the French governments 1986 decision to relax its former policy of restricting the countries principle airlines (AIR FRANCE, AIR INTER, and UTA) to operating within their own historical spheres of commercial influence, and which had previously prevented direct competition between either airline.
This saw one of the airlines B747-200, B747-300, and DC-10-30 aircraft supporting both "AEROMARITIME" and "UTA" titles during different periods throughout the late 1980´s. B737-300 and -400 aircraft were acquired to operate the airlines short-haul European services during the late 1980´s, along as B767-300 aircraft which UTA acquired during 1989 (A340´s were also placed on order for future delivery), each of which supported "AEROMARITIME" (only) titles over an otherwise basic UTA identity.
Both UTA FRENCH AIRLINES (along with AIR INTER too) was merged into AIR FRANCE on December 18th 1992 .... and which also saw AIR FRANCE then become a B767-300 operator by default at that time also.

Here is a Hybrid version... circa 1990 Europe Aero Service leased from Aeromaritime F-GFUD 737-33A: There are a few more hybrids I will probably do... expect TEA and Sobelair that I've found so far soonishventually There is also an Air Caledonie "hybrid" but it's basically no titles or tail logo tiny little "Air Caledonie" titles on the nose (i don't think it's even the right font)... so I don't know if it's worth doing, I don't think it flew in service like that, maybe just temporarily prior to painting of F-GFUC for Air Caledonie... but if someone wants it it can be done easily!

Where AIR CALEDONIE is concerned .... I've got decals here for the definitive liveried F-OAGX of 1989 (same livery as supported by CARAVELLE 10B3 F-GEPC). Let me know if you want'em .... and I'll whack'em up to you.
I photographed AIR CALEDIONE B733 F-GFUC at AKL during 1988 .... it became the airlines very first B733 and replaced the CAARAVELLE. It actually supported 2 variations of AIR CALEDONIE livery during this time .... the first one (meaning the first time I saw it on its first flight "here" on it's inaugural AKL flight) it supported the full sized "AIR CALEDONIE INTERNATIONAL" titles over a basic AEROMARITIME fuselage nut with white doors .... as well as a full size Hibiscus tail logo too, but, this tail logo was stencil outlined (only) in 2 colours. The following week .... same year .... and I think, from memory, we're talking about June-ish of 1988 .... the same aircraft/F-GFUC ... supported the same fully coloured Hibiscus logo as had been applied to the CARAVELLE from around 1986, so, where F-GFUC was concerned thee was a livery change within a week. F-GFUC was then replaced during late June/early July 1988 with F-OAGX .... the first of the airlines own B733's .... and during the very late 1990's the airline was renamed AIR CALIN and at which point F-OAGX supported another completely different livery style.
JEEZE I've seen, and recorded, a lot of changes in civil aviation during my own photographic involvement with it over the past 40 years .... since February 1979.

Thanks for the info Mark.
I'm not going to proceed with that one unless I get much better photo source though. After reading on some french forums there seems to be questions about what I though said air caledonie might be something else related to the Air France paint hangar... It would also make the dates make sense with your info as the pic I have is from 1991.

I can confirm the dates of my own observations .... because I was "there" and myself photographed each of the variations I've described. I have the photos, but, the scanner's gone U/S. I'll see what I can do .... otherwise source for you anyway Mark C AKL/NZ

These "ARE NOT" my own photos but are what I've quickly sourced from the web .... to confirm what I personally saw, recorded, and have described .... 1. 1st livery F-GFUC livery (this AEROMARITIME based ID one is the rarest and only lasted a week or so during mid 1988 following retirement of the CARAVELLE) .... 2. 2nd livery F-GFUC from a week later also during mid 1988 3. 3rd SB livery after delievery of F-OAGX mid 1989 .... "I have already scanned decals relating to this version"4. 4th/Final livery applied to F-OAGX following thge late 1990's SB name change Hopefully this information may clear up any uncertainty .... again I can confirm the dates as I personally witnessed, and was involved with, each of these these events at AKL/NZAA Mark C AKL/NZ
